Victoria Pérez de Ascanio works in the drawing, painting and printmaking media. Drawing is the core to her work and from it new ideas and concepts emerge. Some of these images will evolve into paintings and prints.
She started drawing before she could write and read and thus this became a passion which in turn sparked a lifetime urge for artistic experimentation and self search.
Her work is primarily figurative. She is particularly interested in the evermore unresolved tension between mankind and its relationship with its surrounding world. Her main sources of influences are from the Old Masters, particularly Rembrandt and Goya, but equally she is interested in Post-Impressionism.
